Description
In mid-November 2021, a young gray whale began to frequent the waters of Oro Bay on Anderson Island, WA. Islanders are monitoring the whale with researchers, hoping this whale finds the way back out to the Pacific and continues migrating south. Islanders dubbed this whale "Shrimp" in hopes that his/her belly is full of ghost shrimp, the most likely food source available in the waters of Puget Sound.
