Summer is filled with newly fledged birds, curious about the world around them. This dark-eyed junco was eyeing a bath in our stream when I became a more interesting oddity to examine. When young, their coloring and lack of dark hood sometimes makes them hard to identify, but their white eye circle and black and white tail feathers are a nice giveaway of their identity.
